The word 'mink' tends to confuse many artists and lash clients, and many of them tend to believe that the lashes are made of animal hair.

Is there real mink fur lashes?
Sure there's real mink lashes that made from real mink fur.
Real mink lashes provide a light, soft, fluffy, and, ultimately more natural look, closely matching natural human lashes.
They’re not for everyone, but real mink lashes are best for clients who are looking for an incredibly natural look. Real mink lashes typically last longer because they are so light. The downside to this type of extension is that they are more expensive than synthetic lashes.

Can Real Mink Lashes be Cruelty-free?
Many beauty companies claim to have mink lashes that are 100 percent cruelty- free and ethically harvested from a free-range farm. Some producers of mink lashes even go as far as to say that the fur is harvested from gentle brushing and the minks actually enjoy the experience.

However, animal welfare groups claim that this is false advertising and state that it’s not possible to obtain mink fur in a completely cruelty-free manner. It is worth noting that fur farming has been banned entirely in the UK, although exports are not. According to leading animal charity P ETA – “Minks are confined in small, cramped wire cages and kept in extremely unsanitary conditions.” Naturally aggressive and territorial, the minks are often kept in individual cages with no heating or protection from the elements. Come harvest season, the mink are either killed before having their fur cut from their bodies. Or, they are brushed to remove their fur at so-called ‘free-range mink farms.’ Even if this is the case, minks are naturally scared of humans and the process of holding and brushing them is likely to cause intense fear and suffering to the animal.
There is no way to say with certainty that all mink farms mistreat their animals, but there is clear evidence to suggest that the process is far from humane. In fact, a beauty company that claimed its real fur mink lashes were cruelty-free, recently had several complaints upheld by the Advertising Standards Authority – you can r ead about it here. PETA adds – “If you purchase a set of mink lashes, you’re supporting an industry in which animals endure immense fear, stress, disease, and other physical and psychological hardships.”
